Air Vice-Marshal Quaife was appointed to the Defence Honours and Awards Appeals Tribunal as a Member in July 2015 for three years.

Air Vice-Marshal Quaife joined the Royal Australian Air Force as a Cadet Pilot in 1975. He graduated to fly fast jet aircraft, qualified as a Fighter Combat instructor and held a number of command postings, including at unit (No 77 squadron); Group (Air Combat Group); and Command (Air Commander Australia). Other appointments included as Director Combined Air Operations Centre in the Middle East Area of Operations and as the Head of Capability Systems in the Defence Materiel Organisation. After retiring from the Air Force in 2008, Air Vice-Marshal Quaife became the General Manager Aviation Solutions for BAE Systems Australia, retiring from that position in November 2014.
